Specifications

When you are ready to place your individualized order of Life After Graduation, Life During College, Backpack To Briefcase or Your Financial Future, be sure to provide us with the following information. If you would like to individualize  your order, but need help putting together the content, contact us and we will be glad to have our designers assist you.

ADDING TEXT TO THE INSIDE COVER
1. Submissions for the inside front/back cover customization can be in a camera-ready format or electronic format. See details below.

2. Space available for print is 8.5 X 5.5 inches.

3. Inside text and graphics can only be in black.

4. A Life After Graduation, LLC representative will contact you with the date customized materials are due. In most cases, materials are due at least three weeks prior to the date your order is to be completed and shipped.

Camera-Ready Submissions
1. Use a laser printer.
2. Use high quality, non-glossy laser printer paper.
3. Make sure the toner on your printer is full.
4. Choose the appropriate dots per inch (dpi). 800-1200 dpi will produce the best quality.
5. Convert graphics to lines per inch (lpi). (To professionally print shades of gray in graphics, you must convert them to halftone dots. LPI measures how many lines of dots there are per inch.) Follow these guidelines to set the lpi values for your chosen text dpi.

* 300 dpi: not acceptable for graphics
* 600 dpi: set graphics at up to 65 lpi
* 800-1200 dpi: set graphics at up to 80 lpi6. Indicate your desired margins (top, bottom, inside and outside margins). If you do not indicate desired margins, your image will be centered on the page.

Electronic Submissions
1. Submit your inside front/back cover artwork on the following media types (Zip Drive 100/250 MB, Jaz Drive 1 & 2 gig, Super Disk 120 MB, 3 1⁄2” Floppy Disks, CD/CDRW, Syquest 44, 88, 200 MB) Also include a printed copy of your artwork with all electronic submissions.

2. Submit text in either a Mac or PC platform. Acceptable applications/formats include: Quark 5.0 or earlier version, Pagemaker 7.0 or earlier version, PDF (Acrobat Distiller), PostScript file from Macintosh applications, Most Windows applications (including Word & Publisher) from a PostScript file.

3. Submit fonts in the following formats

* Adobe Type 1 Fonts – consist of Screen Fonts, which represent fonts on screen; and Printer Fonts, which represent fonts on a laser printer or imagesetter. Please send us both screen and printer fonts for each font used, including those in graphics. Missing fonts often cause imaging problems.

* True Type Fonts – have screen and printer data in one file, at times causing unexpected imaging problems. While we try to make these fonts work on our systems, they aren’t as consistent as Adobe Type 1 fonts.

* Important – Include separate font for each style used. Example: to bold Helvetica font, choose "Helvetica Bold" font, rather than "bold" attribute from toolbar. Stylized fonts may default to base font, disregarding style.

CHANGING THE OUTSIDE COVER

Color

You can choose one color (black is already included).  Reference the Pantone Color by Name and Number.

Title/Subtitle

The title and subtitle can be changed on the front and back cover.  However, all other text contained on the cover must remain the same. Please submit title, subtitle and preferred font.  Including a sample of the preferred font is requested, but not necessary.

Logos

Logos are best as a VECTOR or as an EPS format.  Illustrator 10 can also be accepted, but with fonts converted to outlines.  Logos must be grayscale/black/white only and should be at least a 300 DPI digital file. Please no files larger than 5MB.
