see this person again? What
is happening to you? Either you’re on a first date
or you’re
starting your first job.
Regardless of whether you’re on your first
date, starting your first job, applying for a loan, meeting the future
in-laws, or negotiating the price of a car, you need to know how to
implement the five basic strategies of success.
During this fun, interactive and educational
presentation, Terry Arndt, President and Founder of Life After Graduation,
LLC, starts the program by having the audience provide feedback on
a variety of hilarious first date scenarios. Terry then uses
this information to identify the five basic strategies of success,
and shows the audience how powerful these strategies can be when implemented
correctly - especially when starting your first job.
Throughout the presentation, Terry incorporates
his own real-life examples, including the devastation of quitting his
first dream job after just three short months, his experience as a
recruiter, and his experience as a manager. In addition, Terry provides audience members tips
on what they should and shouldn’t do during those crucial first
few hours, days, weeks and months on the job.
Dating can be a fun and enjoyable adventure,
as can your first job. However,
if you are not properly prepared, both can be disastrous. Dating & Your
First Job is the perfect program to help college students gain a better
understanding of the strategies for success and apply those to an upcoming
career fair or their first job.

Who Conducts the Presentations?
Our presentations are conducted by Terry
Arndt, President and Founder
of Life After Graduation. Terry uses the content from the company’s
various publications, as well as his firsthand experience to provide
audiences a unique perspective of the topics he discusses. You
can learn more about Terry
Arndt by reading his biography.
How Long are the Presentations?
Our presentations run, on average, for 60 minutes. This includes
time for questions and answers. However, Terry sets aside sufficient
time before and after the presentation to visit with students and answer
additional questions they may have. He also encourages audience members
to contact him via telephone or e-mail for additional assistance.

What are Your Presentations Like?
Prior to the presentation beginning, audience members are asked to answer
short questionnaires. The presentation begins by gathering responses
from audience members to the questions they have just answered. The
presentation uses the audience’s own responses in various activities,
interactions, or role plays. This allows audience members to see
the relevance of their own responses and how the presentation information
can make a significant and powerful impact in their lives.

How are Your Presentations Different Than Other Presentations?
Simple: flexibility. We are flexible to your needs and the needs
of the audience. We understand that no two organizations or audiences
are alike. That is why we spend a significant amount of time understanding
the goals you wish to accomplish with our presentation. We take
the information you provide and adjust our presentations accordingly. For
example, if you want us to put more emphasis on how students can succeed
at your upcoming career fair – we will make it happen. In
addition, each of our presentations are partly developed by the responses
from audience members. We believe this is important because it
allows the audience to see the relevance of their response.
Specifications
Location:
The great thing about a presentation is that it can be done almost
anywhere – a
classroom, gymnasium, auditorium, etc. You tell us where you want the
presentation and we will make it work.
Technical Stuff:
A lot of the technical stuff depends on the size of your group and the
location where the presentation will take place. In most cases, we will
need the following items:
- Pens or pencils for each of the audience members
- Two flip charts w/ black markers or a chalk board
and chalk
- Computer and LCD projector that is capable
of running PowerPoint. If
that is not available, an overhead projector will work.
- Microphone is recommended for groups larger than 50.
In addition to these technical requirements, we also need to visit with
your audio/video staff prior to our arrival, as well as on the day of
the presentation, to ensure everything will go smoothly.
Audience:
The final requirement is for you to provide us an audience. To
assist you with that process, we can forward you graphic files so that
you can develop your own customized posters and flyers. In addition,
we are happy to share ideas, as well as samples of programs other organizations
have successfully implemented to attract large audiences. And of
course, as you know, free food is always a great way to encourage participation!
Customer Comments
I met Terry at a conference and attended his presentation 2 years ago. I was very impressed with his interest in helping graduating students be successful in the real world. Since then, I have used two of his books, Life After Graduation and From Backpack to Briefcase in our Psyc 213: Transitions - Life After College class. The students have really enjoyed the two texts and they have generated alot of discussion in class. It made it even more special to have him come to campus and present to the class in person on Dude, Where's My Money? We opened the presentation up to other students who weren't in the class as well. Terry got rave reviews from both students and staff. His ability to engage the students right from the beginning and hold their interest was great. He has a great sense of humor and is very down to earth and grounded in statistics as well as real life examples. I admire his generosity in coming and sharing a copy of his new book with our students and encouraging them to contact him with any questions in the future. Terry is a professional and really supports college and university career development departments with excellent customer service and products. He is a pleasure to work with and makes it all so easy. I highly recommend that you bring him to your campus, I guarantee it will be a success!

Working with Terry to set up
this presentation was extremely easy. He was very accommodating and his
presentation was extremely useful to our students. The information provided
was applicable to various areas of our student’s lives and should
be practical in many situations they may face. At the end of the program,
Terry provided his contact information to all the participants and
stated that he was available for any questions that they may have down
the road. I would definitely recommend his program to anyone who is
looking to service a student population.

Terry's presentation was fun and entertaining. Our students loved
how he applied the strategies of a successful first date and related
it to being successful in their first jobs. Terry tapped into
something that our students could easily relate to and then
showed them how to use that knowledge to succeed in the workplace. In
addition, Terry made himself available after the program to
answer questions about career fairs, interviews and resumes. That
was an added benefit we did not expect. We look forward to his
next program at Washington State.
